Mom and Dad are the foundation of the family. During that busy phase of having young kids, it’s TOTALLY worth the investment to leave the kids at home and do a couples shoot! It’s a great way to show your partner that they are a priority and to show your kids that you are actively working to keep your foundation strong.

When you’re looking for a photographer, first think about what type of couples photos you want. Shooting couples pictures is very different from doing a family session! You may have a style you prefer for your couples session that is different from your favorite family shoots! Some photographers have a more posed portrait style, others have a more candid or lifestyle feel. Some have a combination!

Your favorite style of family photo may not be your preferred style of couples picture. Don’t be afraid to take your time and look through your local options! Start googling photographers local to your destination NOW so you can schedule a session during your trip!

No matter how you get it done- get it done! As I mentioned, I often pull Mom and Dad for a pic during family sessions. At almost EVERY ONE they say, “we haven’t done a photo of just US since the wedding!” ALMOST EVERY SINGLE TIME! It’s time to give your marriage a nod and dedicate a whole session to the two of you.

You will look back on photos over the years and remember your love for each other. You will treasure the reminder that through thick and thin, you put effort into your relationship, and nurtured your family’s foundation.
